And sometimes we come across strange prefixes. To help you in these cases, we have prepared a list of international prefixes which will allow us to know from which country they are writing to us.
To check the number, you just have to click on the top bar of the chat. This shows all the contact information. Knowing this information goes beyond a simple matter of curiosity: it is also a very effective weapon to prevent scams and fraud.
What are international prefixes?
En el ámbito de las telecomunicaciones, un prefix is the numerical sequence that is dialed in front of the user number when a telephone call is made. Thanks to this prefix it is possible to select the territorial demarcation to which the recipient of the call belongs.
Although each country, within its own borders, organizes the distribution and naming of its territorial prefixes, there is a list of codes regulated by the International Telecommunication Union. This is what we know as a list of international prefixes.
These are classified by geographical areas and They can consist of two or three numbers. It is a standard accepted by all states in the world. According to WhatsApp's own support website, phone numbers in international format are preceded by the plus symbol (+) followed by the country code.
